Opening Activity-9/7

1. What is the role of the reporter's seques in this story?
The seques helped lead the story from point to point. They gave us information about Shaynna that we didn't know from just the interviews. It was kind of the backround information and then they helped with the twist too.

2. Why do you think she did not include a stand-up in the story?
They interviews and the plot of the story were so significant that a stand up really wasn't needed. They story was so intense and it really pulled on your heart strings so maybe the stand up would've taken away from that.

3. What is the biggest surprise in the story?
That threw all of the trauma her body endured, there was a baby in her body and then baby survived.

4. How does the story end with hope?
The baby boy was alive and doing well, she talks about how he is her number one miracle.

Opening Activity-10/5

The death of Steve Jobs is such a misfortune for modern culture because Steve Jobs was co founder of Apple. Without him, the advancement of technology would not be how it is today. The iPad the iPod, all these were essentially created by this man. It makes me wonder what and how the world will continue to develop and evolve technologically without him. I feel like with the advancements he was provided our society, no other could take the roll of. This man was a genius and it is so sad that he had to pass at the age of only 56 while the world was at a technological peak.

Opening Activity-9/22

The article i read was about satelites that are currently in space, but have a great chance of re-entering our solar system and crashing into the ground. It is thought that on this Friday, 9/23, a satelite will plumit back to Earth. This satelite would be the biggest and heaviest satelite since the 75 ton Skylab fell back in 1979.

Wow. It is mind blowing that something that has been up in our solar system for so long is just now falling to the ground. It orbit must be getting closer and closer to Earth but i think it is actually kind of scary to think that something so big and significant will fall, especially because we don't know where it is going to fall. I just hope it doesn't fall on top of me.

I read an article about how Brazil is working towards sending 75,000 students to the best Universities in the world. They were able to finacially support these students because of the money that Brazil has been raking in thru differant commodaties across the world. There are major concerns that go into sending people over seas for education, people wonder wheather or not the students will be able to establish a normal life due to language barriers ect.

Opening Activity-9/16

The Jonesboro shooting took place at Westside Middle School. 2 boys stole guns from their grandfather, went to the middle school, pulled the fire alarm, and opened fire on all the students and faculty trying to leave the building. They killed four students, one teacher, and left 10 other seriously wounded. The angle i would do my story from would be the parents of the 2 boys because i am sure that the public has many quetions about what the parents were doing, where they were, and what type of household the shooters were brought up in. I know that i would be curious as to what drove the boys to do such a horrific from of murder.

Opening Activity-9/15

In the Big Brother house, too much chaos is never enough. Last night, the season was wrapped up with th big finale. One by one, each house guest was evicted and sent to jury. So who was the last person standing? Rachel, a two year veteran, finally went home with the big pay check in her back ocket, $500,000.

I love Big Brother, so this news came as no surprise to me. I have been watching Big Brother for as long as i can remember and have devoted my summer every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday night at 7:00. Rachel was a good game player and she was a target from week 1. She won many competitions an deserved the money prize more than anyone in the house.

The news criteria that was applyed to this article was:
1. Timelyness
2. Prominence
3. Human Interest

Opening Activity-9/14

The article i read was about a baby who was put into a bag along with various items and sent down the river to die. The baby was wrapped in a plastic to suffocate it and then sent down the river to drown. Investigators have named the baby Angel because in the bag, they found 3 angel statues along with a t-shirt with an angel printed on it. Police are hoping anyone can step forward and help police officials find the mother of the child. I think it is really sad that a baby had to die that way and i can only hope that the little baby is in Heaven, i hope the police find whoever did this to the baby for the baby's sake of justice.

Reponse to Online Gaming

I personally have never played one the many online games available on Facebook, and i have never heard of Google+, but i have played online games in which have tried to scam me for money. It is an imposter to think that these online social networking sites are phasing people into actually buying games, granted i am not a "big gamer" i still believe that scamming people of their money is innapropriate and it is a sad way to make money. I understand that that's how those people make their income, but it is absolutly cheating people of their money. Facebook is a great social-networking site, but it will eventually become nonexsistent because as online social networking continues to evolve, there will eventually be a differant network that is up on top and it is pathetic that while Facebook is on the top of the charts, they are robbing people of their money.

Earlier this week, a small Savage community was bruptly awoken by a stranger intruding young childrens' bedrooms. Police and other officials in the area are putting the community in "lock-down mode" while they try to keep the community safe and out of harms way. It has been difficult for the Police and the town members to draw conclusions as to who is breaking into these childrens' bedroom and what do they want, because Police and investigtors are unsure wheather the serial intruder is male or female.
